IN 1982, while visiting the offices of Magnum Photos, I got the lucky break. No Magnum photographer was available when a Dutch magazine wanted a
reportage done on the Newport Jazz Festival. The job was simply passed on
to me. I would continue documenting the New York jazz scene for the rest of the 80's.
